End of the Year Mash Mash Mashups
It is traditional at this time of the year for mashup artists to really go to extremes mashing as many songs together from the previous year as possible. This year there’s several really great mashups of the year’s top songs.
Here’s some of my favorites, in order of randomness unrelated to personal feelings of comparativeness.
Marc Johnce – Dance Love and Die While We’re Young is up first. I love that he uses the verse clip from Gangnam Style rather than the chorus.
RedEye – Pop Feeling 2012. A bit more of a dance beat base on this one.
Mashup-Germany – Top of the Pops 2012 [Scream & Shout]. Very electronic spin in this mix.
Djs From Mars – Top 40 2012 – Multibooty. Nice build in this one, feels a bit more musical than others rather than mashing everything to match up to the same beat the whole time. Plus it’s got a bit of Only The Horses from Scissor Sisters in it ![]()

EmoSquid
For the 2011 7dRL Challenge I wanted to do something even more difficult than Earl Spork, so naturally I opted to do a 3D rogue-like!
In the one week allowed by the challenge, I created EmoSquid. It’s a full 3D movement Rogue-Like with fun music add in. The version linked here only has one song, but more can be added. Check the readme.txt file for more information on adding songs. If you know me, ask me for the full song version ![]()
One of the fun components of EmoSquid is that as you level up, you unlock new songs. There is also an animation of musical notes rising behind the status display which gains more notes as you level up, providing a visual display of the player’s progress.
The above link is for a bug-fix / features release post-challenge. The original in-challenge entry can be downloaded here. Note that this release has some bugs and is somewhat lacking in the feature department.
